Spinach with Tuna Flakes Japanese Appetizer

I always have some canned food in my pantry as I live in Japan, I need to stock up in case of natural disasters. However, they can just sit there forever, so I try to utilize them once in a while. This recipe is a good reason to use a can of tuna flakes! It makes a great side dish or appetizer!

Spinach6 Strands
Canned Tuna in Oil2.5oz / 70g
[SAUCE] Soy Sauce2 Teaspoons
[SAUCE] Sugar1 Teaspoon
[SAUCE] Grated Ginger1 Teaspoon
[SAUCE] White Sesame Seeds1 Tablespoon

  1. Cut the spinach into smaller sections
  2. Boil water in a pot. When it comes to a boil, turn to medium heat and place stalk in first. After boiling for about 30 seconds, place the rest of the leaves in and boil briefly until cooked. Then drain and gently rinse with water.
  3. In a bowl, combine the [SAUCE] ingredients together with the spinach and toss well.
  4. Place the tuna flakes on top the spinach.
  5. DŌZO!
