Portuguese Style Octopus Salad

When I lived in Hong Kong, I often traveled to Macao, a former Portuguese colony, as it was only one hour away by ferry. Portuguese cuisine was the only type of food I would have! One of the dishes I must order every time was the octopus salad (Salada de Polvo)!

This dish makes it very simple and quick to prepare if you can buy octopus that is already cooked. If you can only have access to raw octopus, there will be an extra step to cook the octopus first in boiling water with some salt and vinegar.

INgredients
Octopus7oz / 200g
OnionHalf
Coriander1 Strand
[SAUCE] Olive Oil2 Tablespoons
[SAUCE] White Vinegar1 Tablespoon
[SAUCE] Minced Garlic½ Teaspoon
[SAUCE] Salt½ Teaspoon
[SAUCE] Black Pepper¼ Teaspoon

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut the octopus into small bite-size pieces. Dice the onion and take out the leaves from the coriander.
  2. Mix [SAUCE] ingredients together and toss well with the chopped octopus, onions, and coriander.
  3. DŌZO!
