Kara-age (唐揚げ) usually is referring to the deep fried cooking method and is most often chicken. Karaage was popular even as early as the 20s in Japan and is now one of the most common foods throughout the entire Japan. Although Kara-age is mostly chicken bite size like nuggets, let’s make it with wings!!!
|Chicken Wings||10 Pieces|
|[MARINATE] Cooking Rice Wine||1 Teaspoon|
|[MARINATE] Japanese Grain Vinegar||1 Tablespoon|
|[MARINATE] Dashi Powder||1 Teaspoon|
|[MARINATE] Minced Garlic||½ Teaspoon|
|[MARINATE] Salt||½ Teaspoon|
|Black Pepper||A dash|
- Mix [MARINATE] ingredients in a container.
- Add the chicken wings, mix well and marinate for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch, salt and pepper, then coat the chicken wings with the mixture.
- Place chicken wings into the Air Fryer, lightly spray the wings with a layer of oil, and cook at 380F/200C for around 20 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked through.
NOTE: Take out the Air Fryer basket from time to time to check the cooking status of the wings and give it a shake to cook the wings more even.
